The Story
The opera is built on a true story from the annals of Scottish history. Much has been written of the great heroes: Rob Roy; William Wallace; Robert the Bruce et al; yet few have encountered the awesome humanity of the ancient Perthshire feud between Clans MacNeish and MacNab.
The opera examines the pedantic origins of the Clans' bloodthirsty conflict and creates parallels with the regional conflicts evident in today's world. The wee folk narrators indulge in the colourful story with great excitement until they realise that the story is no fairy tale, but a comment on the tragedy of the tribal human condition.
